This project is an exploration into therapeutic gardens and spaces, and breaking down what therapeutic can be defined as. Hinging on Dr. Guizzo’s Contemplative Landscape Model (CLM) as a jumping off point, I have modified the guidelines and pushed the boundaries of how this model can be adapted for therapeutic play and designing spaces with self-discovery and healing in mind. With guidelines in place, I explored how various Grasshopper scripts can be utilized as a “calculator” to measure and determine the contemplative value of a site, as well as how physical interventions can modify a site’s contemplative value by varying its features through Grasshopper. Ultimately, this project is meant to be used as a template, where my intervention serves as one of the many potential version of creating a contemplative value. Ultimtely, this project aims to prove how contemplative play can used to create a journey of reconnecting with yourself.
